UPDATE 8th March 2009
I pulled out some stats for a 'very popular general public' website today to see what the usage stats were for less popular browser versions (in particular Safari 2, Firefox 2) and also see what was happening with IE6.

According to the stats, usage by browser version is approximated as :
IE7 49.0%
IE6 17.5%
FF3 17.0%
SF3 7.0%
FF2 3.0%
Chrome: 1.0% (emerging)

The latest breakdown of screen resolution is shown below.

UPDATE 12th March 2008
It has been at least 3 months since I last reported browser usage statistics across our client sites (see above). In that time, IE7 has become the more popular browser (45%), followed by IE6 (32%), Firefox (15.5%), Safari (6.5%) and Opera (0.5%). The forced windows update from IE6 to IE7 in February (or thereabouts) has obviously made a difference. Netscape is no longer supported - may it rest in peace. Firefox continues its rise - up 2%.
